After successfully operating the statewide non-profit Michigan GREEN organization for the past two years, Partners GREEN is pleased to announce that their energy education and school efficiency program has expanded nationwide.

Partners GREEN (Group for a Renewable Energy-Efficient Nation) is the national non-profit clearinghouse for information and resources on renewable energy, energy efficiency, environment, and climate literacy in the schools sector. On behalf of its Project EverGREEN Schools national sustainable schools initiative, a petition in support of clean energy for America has been signed by individuals and organizations representing more than 40 million people, calling for grass-roots support for green schools initiatives. The petition will be presented to President Obama and members of Congress later this year.

According to Blanche Sheinkopf, National Education Director of Partners GREEN and a long-time educator and former National Coordinator of the U.S. Department of Energy's EnergySmart Schools program, "There has always been a disconnect and a separation between the school buildings and the education that goes on inside of them. Partners GREEN programs and initiatives now make that important connection. The building becomes the teaching tool for the occupants and a model for the entire community."

Partners GREEN is a non-profit organization consisting of organizations, agencies, educational institutions, businesses, and individuals who have joined forces to champion the cause of renewable energy and energy efficiency in our nation's schools. Goals include advancing the installation and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy, educational programming, and resource sharing to increase understanding of these technologies, and helping provide access to financial institutions and services to facilitate funding opportunities for energy projects, all within a framework of energy and environmental education.
