A new science building at Green River Community College (Auburn, WA) combines science education with sustainability. Features include a lab ventilation system that uses a heat recovery system for fume hood exhaust, variable air volume and space occupancy sensors that reduce air changes per hour, and sharing mechanical systems with their existing Technology Center. The new building is also located in a forest, which allowed the trees on site to be preserved and detention ponds to be used as rain gardens.
