Heat exchangers used to nowadays, use pressed plates which are cheaper than the earlier models of exchanges which used welded plates instead. The fabrication cost of these exchangers has fallen to a significant amount. Apart from the cost the pressed plates are less corrosive and less reactive, which decreases the frequency of replacement. The modern heat exchangers are now designed such that can be cleaned properly without much of a headache. Progress in technology has resulted in extreme advancements in the design of exchangers. These are now more adaptable and so can be used in much other kind of tasks than a single task. Heat exchangers have now become compact and portable and also quite flexible. These exchangers are now used on smaller items and the fluid in it can be modified according to design specifications. Therefore the cost and maintenance of these have gone down in the present market.
